September 27, 201312 yr It looks like it's got the same space as the venerable Lian Li PC-Q25B at a budget price. Granted even the Lian Li can be had at $80 during a good sale, but that's the Phenom's everyday price. Pros: cheap better PSU layout than PC-Q25B there's a micro-ATX variant Cons: not hot swap plastic rather than aluminum not as serviceable as PC-Q25B slightly larger than PC-Q25B
September 27, 201312 yr Author Hmmm... Ok, so maybe it wasn't just announced, but it's now available for pre-order from newegg if that's your thing.
September 27, 201312 yr It's not a "pre-order" at Newegg -- they're available and shipping. While the carrying handles are an interesting addition, I still very much prefer the Q25B => aluminum is a far better heat transfer material; the hot-swap cages are VERY handy (I never actually "hot-swap", but the simplicity of removing/replacing drives is really nice); the cooling fan for the hard drives is 36% larger; and I'm not at all sure about a horizontal mounting of the motherboard -- directly over the power supply.
September 27, 201312 yr Author It showed me they would ship next month. Anyway, the Bitfenix Prodigy has the same basic board/PSU layout, and it's worked for all those users. That one gets top marks (even though I think it's uglier than sin). I still prefer the PC-Q25B, but it's always good to have options.
September 28, 201312 yr The Bitfenix Prodigy has been available for a while, however the Phenom is a new case for Bitfenix and is most definitely only available for preorder. Then there is the micro-ATX version of both, designated with the "M" moniker. The new cases will be available here in Australia on the 1st October. http://www.maximumpc.com/bitfenix_announces_phenom_case_small_form_factor_builds2013 I can vouch for the cooling performance of the Prodigy at least, as I have my gaming rig in one. It has a 6990 in it, which is one of the hotter video cards around, and the stock fans, with an additional 120mm up front, cools everything quite well. I've preordered a Prodigy M (I quite like the look myself ) as I want to move my gaming rig into that so there is more room for the aftermarket cooler that I want to add to the 6990, which will reduce the noise from the stock cooler significantly. Anyway, all of that's fairly irrelevant to an unRAID build, however I hope it's some helpful information regardless.
