Subscript
I just upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0 and on the main menu everything is green. I have 1 parity drive and 4 2TB data drives installed. I have a question regarding each of my drives and want to make sure everything is ok before I start the array. Should the file system for all of my data drives be unknown? Does it matter that not all of the drives have the same MBR alignment? Parity drive: Partition 1 size: 1953514552 KB (K=1024) Partition format: MBR: unaligned Spin down delay: Use Default Spinup group(s): Host0 disk1 Partition 1 size: 1953514552 KB (K=1024) Partition format: MBR: unaligned File sytem type: unknown Spin down delay: Use Default Spinup group(s): host1 disk2 Partition 1 size: 1953514552 KB (K=1024) Partition format: MBR: unaligned File sytem type: unknown Spin down delay: Use Default Spinup group(s): host2 disk3 Partition 1 size: 1953514552 KB (K=1024) Partition format: MBR: 4K-aligned File sytem type: unknown Spin down delay: Use default Spinup group(s): host4 disk4 Partition 1 size: 1953514552 KB (K=1024) Partition format: MBR: 4K-aligned File sytem type: unknown Spin down delay: Use default Spinup group(s): Thank you for your time, Subscript syslog.txt Link to comment
garycase
It's normal to show "Unknown" until you Start the array -- then it should correctly show Reiserfs. Link to comment
garycase
r.e. the 4k alignment => There may be a slight performance degradation if the unaligned drives are Advanced Format drives. But it's not worth the hassle to change it. As you eventually replace them with larger drives, everything will be properly aligned. Link to comment
Subscript
Good deal. I guess it's safe to assume that if there were any problems, the drives would be red balled but better safe then sorry. Thank you, Subscript Link to comment

The partition start DOES NOT have t be the same on all the disks. Link to comment
