October 15, 201312 yr Author Just did a reiserfsck on the rebuilt drive. What I got was thousands of files back instead of the thirteen files that should have been there. So it looks like the parity is working but something is going wrong with the rebuild. It is getting something from the parity, writing it to the drive but not combining it into the correct file structure. Is the rebuild related to the CPU clock or the maybe the hardware layer on the controller card and simply not getting all the information it needs to recompile the files correctly? I have a spare controller but not a spare CPU here. Will clear the config shut down the array and replace the controller and test again to see if that is where it is at.
October 15, 201312 yr Author No go on the controller so it's off to Frys in the morning, need some more drives anyway, don't we always need more drives.
October 15, 201312 yr Author Back up and running, decided just to scratch entire hardware platform so new MB, CPU and RAM. Had to play with the motherboard a bit to get it to see the hardware correctly but test is underway. Could not get to the array using the onboard Killer E2205 network card so I just disabled it, did not really want to add an additional nic card but will wait to look at that in the future. Rebuild is going much faster so should have an update soon.
