January 1, 200917 yr Version 4.2.1 Pro 10 Drives This morning when I powered up the UNraid server after a power outage shutdown I think - basically server not accessible (it has UPS). I see my parity drive is showing blue. And Unraid thinks its a new drive. See below unraid when healthy and unraid now images below Should I restore or start? I have done a reboot - system hardware is not reporting any errors. Thanks in advance. Original settings. Todays screen
January 1, 200917 yr It seems as though the super.dat and/or disk.cfg files are somehow corrupted. Do you have a recent backup of these files. (Recent = since you last added or removed drives or rearranged disks). If so, you might try restoring them. (Power down, move USB stick to Windows machine, rename (don't delete!) existing files, and then copy the backups. The other thought is to try the "trust my array" procedure HERE. This technique was documented after 4.2.1, but likely has been there for a while just undocumented. I would definitely recommend waiting for Joe L. or others to chime in before taking any action.
January 1, 200917 yr Normally after an improper shutdown, a few transactions will be replayed and logged in the syslog, and a parity check will begin. But something appears to have confused unRAID, I don't know why. Do capture your syslog just in case, before rebooting, see my sig for instructions, in the Troubleshooting link. Check out the Make unRAID Trust the Parity Drive procedure, although I am not positive it was available as of v4.2.1. It would be good to get familiar with this procedure any way, because at some point, you are going to need it when you upgrade to current versions, because you have WD drives with long names. This procedure should allow you to restore the array to normal, without having to rebuild your parity drive, but make sure you get the correct responses to the 'invalid slot' command. If you do not, then your version is too old, and you will have to Start the array, after clicking the I'm sure I want to do this box, and the parity drive will be rebuilt.

Do a parity check after, a few parity errors are possible, normal.
January 1, 200917 yr So do not pick restore or start? Not sure what you have done. Are you following this procedure? http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Make_unRAID_Trust_the_Parity_Drive%2C_Avoid_Rebuilding_Parity_Unnecessarily
January 1, 200917 yr Author Guys THANKS!!! it seems to have worked like a charm!!! the machine is running a parity check but I can access the data. Question: Is there any info on how to have the UPS do a controlled shutdown of the server (via USB communication?) UNRAID ROCKS!
January 2, 200917 yr Question: Is there any info on how to have the UPS do a controlled shutdown of the server (via USB communication?) I've put together a few links in the UnRAID Topical Index page, for UPS support. It's a new page and very incomplete, but hopefully someday will be useful.
