Missing Data Files <SOLVED>

Featured Replies

I have seen many postings on people losing data files after a power outage or sudden drop in power.  I have tried everything they tried but I am still losing one or more data media files. Not really sure why that is the case since I would figure the Parity drive would correct the lost file. Anyone has any others ideas it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Greg

Parity won't correct a file that is in the process of being written when a power failure occurs, or data that is in buffers and hasn't been synced. Not sure exactly what you are asking here.

The simple answer is get a UPS so your server can survive short power outages, and shutdown gracefully during longer ones.

@gsd2012: what unraid version you are using?

I understand that loss of power will affect the ones in the buffers but these files have been on the system for almost a year now. I am not sure what the issue is, but yes I have a UPS but it needs new batteries to perform the graceful shutdowns.

Just update to latest version, there was an important fix since rc16a to sort the problem you describe.
