December 11, 201312 yr I upgraded from 5.08a to 5.0.4. The instructions indicated that after rebooting the array should be stopped. Well, that didn't happen. Instead, the array was started. Fortunately, all the partition formats were correct. My question is a what if. What would happen if one of the drives had a partition error? What steps should be taken to save my data?
December 11, 201312 yr I believe that Tom included the the "enable auto start" in the 'Settings', 'Disk Setting' menu somewhere in the ver 5 beta development cycle. If you enabled that setting, the setting gets transferred (or is 'sticky') any time you upgrade the version--- Sort of like shares or users. As I recall, this issue of perhaps not have the drives properly assigned was an possible issue only when upgrading from ver 4.7. Once we got into the ver 5 beta series, the problem disappeared.
December 11, 201312 yr Author You are probably right. I do remember setting that configuration a few years back. I forgot about that. unRaid runs so flawlessly, requiring no attention, that I don't remember those things. It might be a good idea for Tom to put reminders like that into his release notes for installing newer versions. Thanks, for you help
