Help - Can't load files to new rebuild

Featured Replies

Having a problem moving files to server.

Just rebuilt my system with a new motherboard and box.

Final build completed yesterday - all data disks recognized and parity valid.

I can start the array and view the contents of the server via smb.

The problem began when I tried to drag a file from my Mac desktop to a folder on the server. (This is how I have moved the existing 9TB of files), The copy would begin and then I would lose the ethernet connection. This has happened a couple of times and the last time I tried to reboot the server it wouldn’t recognize the flash drive for startup.

I wanted to get some input before doing any more damage, so I have attached a copy of my syslog.

I pulled the flash drive when it was shut down connected it to my Mac and copied the syslog to the desktop.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

BTW - new board is ASUS ABN-SLI Premium using all eight on board SATA connections as well as two PCIe boards to connect additional five drives and cache. (photo of Main screen attached).

Have you enabled AFP?  Both settings and shares?

Both AFP and SMB are enabled,

Now I've lost the flash drive in the boot config. It is not selectable as a boot option either as hard drive or removable in the bios.

I powered down the server, pulled the flash and attached it to my mac desktop, re-ran the "make boo table mac" script, placed it back in the server, started up and ran the motherboard setup. Flash still doesn't appear.

Double check the BIOS.

Be sure the USB slot is first in the Boot Order.

The USB device has disappeared from the Boot device Sequence and it's not listed under available hard drives. Is there any other way to force a boot from the USB?

Maybe try a different USB port. If you can't see it in the BIOS you won't be able to boot from it. Don't know about your specifics, but on my old ASUS board I think I had to configure the flash drive as FDD to get it to boot.

Thanks, but I've tried all of the usb ports and it doesn't recognize the flash drive on any of them.

I tried configuring as floppy and that doesn't work either. Now both LAN ports are gone. Could be my MB's fried.
