January 22, 201412 yr I have a torrent server that uses the cache drive to save my downloads to. I have a downloads share and inside it there is an Incomplete and Completed directory. The issue I'm having is that since all my downloads are on the cache drive, every time I go to move files from the cache drive to a particular share (say TV Shows) it is extremely slow AND it all but stops my downloads in their tracks. My downloads will go from 4-5MB/s down to less than 10KB/s during a file move/copy. I am constantly downloading and moving files to their respective shares so what is a better way for me to get this done? I mean I'm often moving 30-100GB at a time and it can really cut my performance and time efficiency down to nil.
January 22, 201412 yr Personally I would create an unexported user share called complete that my files would go to when completed limited to a couple of drives. So the torrents are now spread across a couple of drives which would allow you to then move them without degrading the array performance significantly. Keep all the incomplete torrents on the cache drive.
