March 5, 201412 yr unRAID 6.0-beta3 I came home from work the other day to a power outage. And no I don’t have an ups as of yet. I unplugged the server from the outlet and left for the evening. The following day I plugged the server in and all appeared to be well. It had been about a month since I had initiated a Parity check so I thought while I’m here I’d start one. Upon completion, or if it completed I’m not sure, disk 5 sde was disabled with the red ball. I goggled and decided after reading some that I should stop the array, unassign the disk, start the array, stop again to reassign the drive, start a rebuild of the drive, and parity again. Things appear to working properly but after 2 days parity has only completed 3.1 percent. Seems a little long. Goggled some more. Ran S.M.A.R.T report short and long and found that the drive has read failure at the sector, I think, as shown below. I have attached the smart report and the syslog, but I am unsure as to interrupt their meaning. And by unsure I mean to say that I have no clue at all. SMART Self-test log structure revision number 1 Num Test_Description Status Remaining LifeTime(hours) LBA_of_first_error # 1 Extended offline Completed: read failure 90% 3110 183333136 # 2 Extended offline Completed: read failure 90% 3109 183333136 # 3 Short offline Completed without error 00% 3108 - Now I have looked into it and searched but I am really a loss with this. I have seen posts about attempting to reallocate sectors or running preclear and then rebuilding. But this drive is less than a year old. RMA? Any guidance would be appreciated. S.M.A.R.T.
