windows vm gplpv drivers and shutdown from unraid

Featured Replies

Just sharing my experience setting up a windows vm.

I set up a win 7 and a win 8 vm and even though I had installed the gplpv drivers, I was not able to shut down from the unraid command line with the "xl shutdown vm-name". Nothing would happen. In fact when I tried to shut down the win 8 vm that way, unraid completely crashed and I couldn't even access the command line.

Finally figured out the issue.

For the gplpv drivers to work, you have to install .net framework. On win 8, it wasn't installed by default. I had to download it from microsoft and install it.

Now I am able to shut down and restart from unraid command line or the webgui in beta4.

I hope it helps others.
