January 29, 200917 yr Building a media server to go into my TV cabinet. Plan is to use 3 x 1TB WD drives in a htpc case I have. I'll add additional drives as the need arises. I already have 3GB ram, core duo cpu, cooler, 2 drives and the case. My problem has been selecting a Intel based mATX MB that I know will work. Plenty of recommendations but most are discontinued or ATX. I have been reading the forums but I'm hoping the more experienced can help me out. I was looking at the G43/ICH10 or G45/ICH10 combo thinking it would provide some potential for cpu and memory upgrades in the future. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000200280%201075707619%20107172715%201071840134&StoreType=-1&CompareItemList=N82E16813128354%2cN82E16813186154%2cN82E16813157137%2cN82E16813131345%2cN82E16813130209%2cN82E16813131353%2cN82E16813135098%2cN82E16813135099&bop=And Thanks
January 29, 200917 yr You will find more mATX options for AMD than Intel. I have a Biostar TA690G (chosen based on very low power NB) and it has worked well.
January 29, 200917 yr Also look at the DG45ID.... it's a VERY solid reliable board ... I trust it so much that I put one in the new box I put together for "She Who Must Be Obeyed"
January 29, 200917 yr Let's try to keep these motherboard discussions in the Motherboard section. This section of for other kinds of hardware, like drives, controllers, extenders, etc. Maybe some kind admin can move it.
January 29, 200917 yr Author Sorry based on the sub title I thought the motherboard section was more for identifying working motherboards. If an admin would kindly move this thread I would be appreciative. Thanks for the suggestions so far. The DG45ID does look interesting. Anyone else?
February 3, 200917 yr Author Just ordered the Asus P5E-VM DO from the hardware compatibility page. Although it doesn't have the latest chip set, it did provide the feature set I wanted from a motherboard. Thanks for the suggestions I received. Cheers, db
