April 26, 201412 yr Hi I've a specific issue in a VM that's been taxing me for a while and I thought I'd share here in the hope of finding some solution ideas. I have a Windows 7 VM running on unRAID 6b4. In this I'm running Logitech Media Server (LMS) to provide music to a number of squeezebox devices around the house. There's a plug-in for spottily that runs in the LMS. When I select local music files to play all is well. However, when I try to play a spottily stream, I get a huge about of buffering, skipping and general failure to play. The VM has 2GB of memory and no other software is running. Checking resource monitor in the VM, CPU, network and disk usage are all low. PV drivers are installed. This problem persists even when this VM is the only one running. As noted, local music streams OK and other VMs stream video content perfectly. When I set up the logitech media server on any other physical machine on the same network, the spottily content streams perfectly. This includes a 500MHz Pentium II and a raspberry Pi. I suspect something's up with networking in the VM but I cannot track it down. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Peter
April 26, 201412 yr The only suggestion I can offer is try a passed through nic instead of using the bridged adapter. I use the second nic on my X7SBE in pass through to my WHS2011 VM. I never noticed any problems either way but if you have a MB with two nics you could try it and see if that cures the problem. Then possibly post a bug report since I don't think bridging should cause those errors.
April 26, 201412 yr Author Thanks Bob Don't have a second NIC but I could swap out the passed-through sound card on a temp basis I guess. Peter
April 27, 201412 yr Author Hmm I set up LMS in IronicBadgers pre-rolled ArchVM and Spotify works perfectly. Seems it's an issue in LMS riunning in a windows VM. Guess I can retire the RaspberryPi and save a few more watts. Peter
