Mover skipping apps share

Featured Replies

I had the app share set to Use cache disk: Only, but now have it set to Yes, and it still skips the share. This is my cache drive, which is why I originally had it set to only. How do I fix it?

I think that's the first time that question's been asked!

I'm not sure how to fix it,but here's what I'd try.

log in as root (or access a disk share, such as 'disk 1', and create AT THE TOP LEVEL of the file directory, a folder called 'apps'.

the name has to match the name on the existing cache drive, including the case.

then try running mover.

That got the mover working! Thanks for your help!

Looks like I spoke too soon. The mover copied the data from the cache apps folder to the new apps folder you had me make.

Isn't that what you expect mover to do or am I missing something?

I don't need the mover to make a copies of directories I already have. I need it to move files from one directory to another. Does anyone know where I can find info on the mover? I haven't seen anything on it, so I must have missed something.

I am still confused!  Mover is meant to move files from a folder on the cache drive to a similarly named folder on the main array disks.  Is this not what happened?

If you want more information on the mover then you can look at the script which is located at /usr/local/bin/mover.  This is a shell script so can be examined with a text editor.

Maybe I should tell you what I want to move, and you can tell me what I need to do. I'm using sickbeard & Couchpotato which are on my cache  in the apps share. I want to move what it downloads into my shares Movie & TV_Shows. What do I need to do? My  /usr/local/bin is empty when I do a dir on it. I don't know much linux, so I might be missing something there. Just wanted to add that I use Sabnzbd to do the actual downloading, and the stuff I want moved is in Sab's download/complete folder.

Ok.  Mover will not do what you want as that is not its purpose.    You should probably set your apps share back to being Cache only to stop mover moving files off the cache disk.

Not sure how to solve your problem, but it will be something to do with the way the apps are configured so that they move downloads to the correct place.

After doing some more reading, I think you are correct. I need to find out how to do that now. Thanks for your help!

The setting you want is in SAB, etc.

Configure SAB, etc., to save COMPLETED downloads to /cache/Movie & TV_Shows/

(or some such name).

the user share 'Movie & TV_Shows' should NOT be in the APPS folder...it should be at the TOP level of the CACHE DRIVE.

that will cause MOVER to copy the completed files to your array.

The share Movie & TV_Shows should already be defined to be using the Cache drive.

Then undo what I told you earlier. Set your APPS share on the Cache drive to be 'cache only'.

And then in your ARRAY, go to the disk share where Mover put the APPS and delete the top level folder.
