Guys(and any Gals) apologies. I have looked on the Wiki page and read through the FAQ but cant seem to find the answer.

Have just installed unraid and it works a charm. I dont have it on a fixed ip(using dns) but after a power outage I have no idea how to get the console up again in my browser.

I can see the drives on my mac under Tower but trying all //t(T)ower options in my browser dont work.

Also not sure how to determine the ip address of the unraid server?

Apologies for newbie questions. :-[

Just login to the console as root, and run "ifconfig -a" and it should list the interface with the ip address..

The IP can be found in the syslog. (not much of an answer for a newbie, but what can I say?)

What I'd do is check your ROUTER...it knows the IP Address.

If this came from a power outage, its possible the file system on your flash drive is corrupted.

Remove the drive, put it into your mac and run Disk Utility on it to fix the file system.

(Don't expect a lot of output...its very fast and terse for your flash drive).

Try again.  Those are the fast/simple things...

If you get the IP address  back, you can access unRAID in your browser by entering the IP address in the URL field....

And there's more possibilities to help.  First, lets get your browser access working.

Posting a syslog will help people help you.

Just login to the console as root, and run "ifconfig -a" and it should list the interface with the ip address..

Assuming you have a monitor and keyboard on your server.

otherwise,

Terminal on your mac will let you use the command 'Telnet' to get to unRAID.

...but if 'TELNET tower' or 'TELNET tower.local' doesn't get you to unRAID, you'll either have to setup a keyboard/monitor to unRAID or try looking in the router tables.

...and this would explain why most of us setup a static IP address. :))

Ahhh awesome, thanks all. Will plug in the screen again and check it out.

Ended up that I needed a .local after the tower.

Ended up that I needed a .local after the tower.

You might google the web for a Mac System Preference Panel called 'HOSTS'.

It lets you specifically match IP addresses against names.

So my hosts file says

192.168.1.50 = tower.local    and

192.168.1.50 = tower

...takes all the worry away when I type an address in the browser.
