pengrus
So after following some of the excellent guides posted here by grumpy, PeterB, and hernandito, to name a few, I am successfully PXE booting OpenELEC off my cache drive. But, my syslog is filling up with this: Aug 29 22:39:19 Tower dnsmasq-dhcp[19841]: 633615970 available DHCP subnet: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 Aug 29 22:39:19 Tower dnsmasq-dhcp[19841]: 633615970 client provides name: TowerIPMI Aug 29 22:39:19 Tower dnsmasq-dhcp[19841]: 633615970 vendor class: udhcp 1.12.0 Attached for your convenience below in long form... It seems like the IPMI function of my X8SIL keeps asking the local dnsmasq for an IP, and isn't getting it. the IPMI is unreachable by address or hostname. If I disable the dhcp function in dnsmasq, the messages go away, but so does my ability to PXE boot! My operating subnet is the 192.168.1.0. I have tried setting the DHCP to that, the router (192.168.1.1), the unraid IP, and the IPMI IP. Nothing is working. Any hints on how to get this right? Thanks in advance! PeterB
I'm afraid that I cannot advise on your problem - my unRAID server (and the IPMI interface) are the only devices on my network which do not rely on dhcp to obtain their addresses. Link to comment
pengrus
No worries Peter! My server is static, but the IPMI is DHCP (foolishly, it seems). I have some drives coming in tomorrow, and I still need to upgrade to beta 7, so worst case I guess I can boot with a stock go file and change it that way... But perhaps someone else has been in my boat...I eagerly await sunrise on the east coast! Thanks anyway! Link to comment
