September 5, 201411 yr Hi, I'm trying to get unRAiD working with ESXi 5.1 and 2 PCI SATA cards with JMB363 chips on. I've used lspci to see if the card is recognised and it is, but the kernel module isn't getting started. I've tested this by booting the machine natively and all the drives show, but when I boot it in ESXi, I get nothing. The card is definitely being passed through. I've attached both syslog files. Motherboard: Intel DQ35JO - http://www.intel.com/p/en_UK/support/highlights/dsktpboards/dq35jo Processor: Intel Quad Q9400 - http://ark.intel.com/products/35365/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q9400-6M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB PCIe SATA Cards: Startech PEXSATA22i - http://uk.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/HDD-Controllers/SATA-Cards/2-Port-PCI-Express-Internal-SATA-Controller-Card~PEXSATA22I Drives: All Western Digital of various sizes Thanks unRaid_Native.txt unRaid_ESXi.txt
September 13, 201411 yr are you locked in to 5.1? on my server 5.1 would not pass through stuff correctly. 5.0 worked, 5.5 works.
September 13, 201411 yr Author I did upgrade to 5.5, but it threw the Purple Screen Of Death on me as soon as I tried to boot a VM, so I rolled it back. I can try 5.5 again to see if I get any different results. If 5.0 worked for you, I may install 5.0 first.
September 13, 201411 yr Author I have the exact same card being passed through to a FreeNas I was trying out and I can see all the drives on there fine. I've passed that card through to my unRAID VM but no drives show.
September 13, 201411 yr I dont think going back will help then. that's odd it works native, in other vms but not unraid vm
September 13, 201411 yr Author unRAID on a SanDisk Cruzer Fit USB. I did have issues booting it, so I found instructions in using plpbtin.iso (http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager/full.html) and this essentially fronts the booting process.
September 13, 201411 yr ahh was just making sure you were not using a virtual drive with old bzroot bzimage to get it booted.
