September 7, 201411 yr So, after having my unRAID 5.05 chugging along for quite a while, it seems I'm slowly experiencing some problems. I run Dynamix, unMenu and CrashPlan. Since updating SSH through Dynamix, I've started having problems with CrashPlan. Can't connect to it and have started getting e-mails from CrashPlan saying that the backup hasn't run for some days now. So I've decided that now may be a good time to migrate to unRAID 6 and start making use of the Docker feature, as I've long wanted to have the server perform some other chores while it is on 24/7 anyway (such as Plex for instance) I will be moving from 5.05 on a Supermicro - X7SPA-HF D525 with 4GB RAM, all drives on native SATA connectors to a SuperMicro X8SIL-F with Xeon L3426 and 24GB RAM and an M1015 HBA. So the question is - in order to do this the best way, allowing the system to "understand" the upgrades one bite at a time - what should the upgrade order be? I was thinking along the lines of this: [*]While on the X7SPA-HF - upgrade from 5.05 to 6.0 [*]Then move from X7SPA-HF to X8SIL-F, keep drives on native SATA on X8SIL-F. [*]Finally, move from native SATA to M1015 Does this sound reasonable or am I missing something? Suggestions and advice appreciated. BR, Thomas
