Plex service pausing and having to restart it.

Featured Replies

I have been using Plex on UnRAID for awhile minimal issue but here in the last few months I have notice the server pauses where it will not allow the Roku to see it anymore until I go to service to hit apply again or stop and start it again. It just seems to freeze for a moment and by clicking apply with "yes" already applied it kicks it in the head to work. Is there anyone else having that issue and if so is there any work around like an automatic service restart if it crashes or gets stuck? Just curious it is no biggie but if I am not home no one else knows how to fix this issue so it would be nice to have the system itself fix it.

Thanks

I haven't had this problem per say, but I have just did a fresh install (twice now) and plex seems to be using up all of my system resources and that's why I am getting disconnected

Can you replicate the issue playing back from a PC?

Yes I could. I had some bad files that was causing the problem I hope...

I'm having the same problem. Plex is crashing every now and then and I need to restart it. Might be the latest release.

How did you solve it UtahDeLorean?

I have the same problem too.  Seams to have started in the past few months.  I continue to upgrade Plex to the latest release, but the issue continues.  I fix the problem by stoping and starting plex.  I also notice that memory usage is very high (70% of 8 gigs in use).  Running Unraid 5.0.5, Plex 0.9.11.7.803-87d0708

I've recently been having issues with Plex crashing due to running out of memory as well. This was using the pluigin.

The other day I migrated all of my apps to Docker since I'm running 6.0-beta12 and it appears to have fixed the issue as I haven't had a single plex crash since. Also my normal memory utilization is down from 70% to 40% with the same apps running just in Docker containers.

If you are on 6.0 I'd recommend going this route.
