April 20, 200917 yr I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but I wanted to make a recommendation to the Main command area wording. This weekend I had to replace the parity drive with a larger drive to prepare for larger drives than I was currently using. So following the procedure, I simply replaced the old parity drive with the new larger drive. When I started the system, the Main menu showed the array as stopped, as expected. But the text next to Stopped said "Upgrading parity". Well, let me say, those 2 words have been the most frustrating words I've encountered in a while. The reason is, those words basically imply that it is "doing something". So I thought ok, it sees the new drive and it's doing its thing. Oh man was I so wrong. In fact it wasn't upgrading anything. It was simply stopped. What I had to actually do was check this check box next to the Start button that said something like "I am sure I want to do this" to enable the Start button. It wasn't until i checked the checkbox and clicked the start button that it in fact started to actually do something. I recommend that after the word Stopped it should say, "Parity needs to be resynced". This would let me know its not doing anything, but something needs to be done. Which would have led me to going through the checkbox to enable the Start button. Which I don't agree, but would at least be a step in the right direction. The better thing to do is to enable the Start button, remove the check box, and simply ask the user to confirm the action after he clicks the button. This would follow more inline with standard UI practices. Thanks, Adrian
June 11, 201016 yr Just ran into this same misleading situation. I would second your opinion that the wording should be changed to "click start to upgrade parity" or something like that. I stared at it for a few minutes and then found your thread
June 14, 201016 yr "click start to upgrade parity" I agree with this wording. I don't agree with starting the new parity sync automatically since some users may want to make other changes first.
