kciaccio
Kind of puzzled at my syslog. Unraid suppose to work with very little memory. Granted I only have 2gigs. I built this server in 2010. I have linked my plex server (separate computer) to serve my files and now it wants to kill children or a process 20177 or a child.. I ordered 4 gigs of ram will this solve my homicidal tendencies my server displays??? Quote Link to comment
danioj
Seems 2GB should be enough but they recommend 4GB. Not sure if you have Plex transcoding or anything on your server but that could increase demands beyond that which is recommended for a stock Unraid Server. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Designing_an_unRAID_server#Memory Also, once I got confused about the memory display in Unraid (always 98%) until I was advised of nix memory utilisation. Example of the sort of reply I got is below. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19339.0 If the above is not the issue then In addition I also found this link re Plex memory usage you might find helpful http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=30583.0 Interestingly when I was doing some research on FreeNas I read that they recommend having 16GB RAM (I know WTF!!!) when using PMS on their system!! I don't use it but it might indicate that it is a Memory hungry beast of a thing!! https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/hardware-for-running-freenas-plex-media-server.23777/ Good Luck! EDIT: Just saw the "Seperate Computer" comment for PMS. So in addition of you're running out of memory I'd ask what other Plugins you are using! As an isolation test, maybe disable them all and see if you have the issue and enable one at a time and see which one you are taking the hit on! Quote Link to comment
