Losing Internet Connectivity on Router Reboot

Featured Replies

Hi all, thanks in advance for the help.  I'm currently running 5.0.6 with great success except for one minor annoyance.  Anytime my router (Asus RT-AC66R running Merlin firmware) reboots for any reason my server loses connectivity to the internet.  I can ping my server from inside my network and can ping other systems with my server, but nothing outside of my router.  I also notice when I look at SABnzbd's settings web gui it has bold red font "No Internet Connection Detected".  I checked my system log and it shows the following on when then router reboots.  Anyone have any advice?

Your syslog piece looks fine.  The network drops then is restored, and the networking looks fine again.  Internet services are something that the router (with the help possibly of an Internet modem) provides, so if you are not seeing Internet addresses, then something is wrong with the router.

I have the same router, also running Merlin firmware, and have had the same issue.

If you log into the router when this is happening, you will notice the router has not leased an external IP from the cable modem. None of your devices will be able to access the Internet, not just unRAID. I usually have to reboot the router and cable modem together to successfully lease an IP. This is not an unRAID issue, but a router issue. Try resetting the router to factory defaults (clear NVRAM) and reprogramming, it seems to have solved the issue with mine.

Thanks for the advise but I reset the NVRAM and redid all my settings and still doesn't seem to be working.  Any other ideas?  Could the router have an issue?  I'd expect other issues if it was a bad router but I guess you never know.

Also I think my issue is slightly different because my other systems can access the internet.  Both laptops, my phone, PS4 ... all are fine.  It's just the server I'm having problems with.  *grumble*
