RSYNC?

Featured Replies

I saw a post referring to a new beta, so I decided to take a look at the readme, and then I noticed that 3.0 final had "added rsync executable."  I'm thinking that rsync can be used to mirror a remote drive or directory.  How is it used in/on unRAID?  Can it be set to automatically sync a directory/folder?

Yes, think of it as a command line version of pathsync, allway sync or windows xp sync toy.

One of the main benefits is that it will only copy changed files and if you're network limited you can use compression to help throughput.

To use it from the server, you'd have to be only copying local data or able to see the data on the other computers, so it might not be that useful. You can use it on the remote computer but in that case, it's just as easy to use one of the graphical programs.

I've been using it to sync data from a locally mounted usb drive.

Thanks for the info.  After the New Year, I'll have to try this out.
