December 31, 200619 yr I originally built my home-brew unraid with 1 gb of ram and it's been up for months without a hitch.... but I could really use 512mb of that RAM for another project Will I see much of a degradadtion with 512mb as compared to 1gb ??
December 31, 200619 yr The pre-built systems Tom sold in the past had 512 Meg of ram. (My unRaid server has been in operation for over a year on 512 Meg of ram) The only difference I can think of is with two ram sticks it might be able to use dual-channel memory access and with one it will not. (My server has two 256 Meg sticks) Give it a try and let us know how it works. I would expect you will see little difference. Joe L.
January 1, 200719 yr unRAID requires minimum 512MB, maximum 1GB (it won't recognize any more than 1GB). Definitely use 2 identical sticks if possible in order to run in dual-channel mode.
