Promise TX4 SATA Controller

Featured Replies

While this controller is plug and play the first time I tried it with a single Seagate 500gb drive (from a previous RAID 5 array) I could select the drive in the devices tab but it would not finish mounting the drive, after half an hour I just shut it down.  Any helpful hints?  Thanks for your help.

Did you try flashing the firmware to the latest version? I have two variants of this PCI card - a SATA and a SATAII. BOth worked fine out of the box with the firmware they had on them, but I bought both used. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I just put one of it yesterday and i have no problem.

I did not try it with a single drive. I did connect 4 drives before closing the box, so i don't know if using it with a single drive may or may not be trouble.

Since the drive is coming from a old raid 5 array, it maybie contains old information that unraid cain't recognize and therefore don't let it mount.

Did you try to mount the drive from another connection point ?

I was just able to get the drive to mount on a open mobo slot so the drive and cable are in good shape.  Going to let it format and see if i can retry it on the sata card.

Just loaded the drive from the TX4 card after formatting it with Unraid on a mobo connection.  The drive fired up great and allowed me to write a movie to it so should be gravy from here on out.  Thanks everybody for your help.
