Migrating hardware

Hello good people of Unraid community,

I have a question or two about a hardware migration. I currently have a 4U Norco 4220 /w i3 4130, 8GB ECC, Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 & 8x 4TB Seagate's (7+1Parity). I want to move it into a VM on my ESXi 5.5 Norco 2U 2106 /w xeon 1230 v3, 32GB ECC, same SM HBA card and a bunch of other stuff.

The reason for this that my 4TB's seem to be going bad and i cannot afford to replace them at this time. I have an old 3U with 12x2TB that's idle, so i want to move those 12+4 more 2TB's (that i got from a friend) into the 4U (which has 20 bays). The 2U has 6 bays, plus i can house one 3.5 in the 5.25 bay as the parity drive. With all this put out there, my question is thus...

Can i simply move the HDD's and USB from the current 4U Unraid into 2U ESXi ( a VM of Unraid is already created on another USB as passthrough). Will simply changing the USB's around work? I'll be using the same SM HBA card for 6+1+spare port, so not much else will change other than cpu/mem inside a VM.

I'll be backing up my data to the 12 drives before hand, but i'm just curious what issues i would run into or if anyone has done this type of swap before?

Thanks.

I would like to move this topic under the Virtualizing unRAID board as its more of a question for ESXi folks than us.

Please note, we at Lime Tech do not officially support running unRAID as a VM. Many have this working just fine, but you will be reliant on community support if you run into trouble. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that.
