Multiple Local VMs on Unraid 6

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I'm waiting for my last few files to push up to CrashPlan before I jump into upgrading to UnRaid 6.

I am planning to replace multiple desktop computers with VMs running locally on a pretty substantial UnRaid machine.  As I understand it, UnRaid 6 will boot up, and then, when configured correctly, run multiple VMs for me (provided my hardware is sufficient).

First, my motherboard has a display port (Gigabyte MU70-SU0) - I presume it will display UnRaid's typical black screen, white text, Linux session.  Can I change it to display one of the VMs - or do I need to buy a video card to display local VMs?

Also, how do I get these VMs output to monitor/displays connected directly to this computer?  Additionally, how about the keyboard/mouse?  And how can I toggle my keyboard/mouse/displays to various VMs that are running or do I need several sets of Keyboards/Mouse/Monitors for each VM?

Thanks for the help,

Russell
