Midnight Commander MOVE behavior - Can it be changed?

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I've been using Midnight Commander to move things around - because it's so fast (not over the network)...  but I find it SUPER frustrating that I can't have it move things unless I'm absolutely positive there's room.

If, for example, I move a folder full of movies from drive 1 to drive 2 - and there isn't quite enough room - it does the work, filling up drive 2 until it is full.  But it leaves the files intact on drive 1, because the operation didn't fully complete.  I end up with copies of stuff all over the place.

This seems to have been a ticket about five years ago (https://www.midnight-commander.org/ticket/2310) and my perception is that it was down-voted.

Is there a way to change the behavior to the move is on a file-by-file basis instead of all/nothing?

Thanks,

Russell
