September 1, 200916 yr Is this an unraid thing? Check out the files with the odd names, all of those have colens. On disk(telnet) they look fine. Nope... it is a "windows" and MAC OS thing... See here: http://support.grouplogic.com/?p=1607 in Linux/Unix, there are only two characters you nay not use as part of a file-name. The forward slash (because it is used as the directory separator) and the "null" character (value=0x00) as it is used to mark the end of the directory and file names. Any other character is legal... (perhaps not easy to type from the keyboard, but legal) In Windows there are many illegal characters... in MAC OS, one, the "colon" The SAMBA share software is just doing its best to give you a file name with a mapped character that is legal.
