Where does the appdata folder come from? (saarg - HELP!)

Featured Replies

I've read the docker management and other posts.  Some refer to the "appdata folder" being generated, however, as of yet I don't have an appdata folder.  Is this a share I generate, or is it generated when I create a "docker container'.  What are the suggested parameters?  I'm kind of confused with this, what shares, or files hierachy is needed to create dockers, I can't much mess it up because I'm starting dockers from scratch and just trying to figure it out.

What files are suggested for the root system of my cache drive and what prevents them from being moved by the mover?

saarg, I'm learning this so I can try out the makeMKV docker, so I ain't done yet! ~ Thanks, dave

The most direct way is to create a User Share named appdata and set it to Use cache disk: Only

I created the appdata folder, however, when I started messing with the plex docker it created another appdata folder and added plexmediaplayer to it.  So anyways now I have the plex media server, with nothing to serve until I figure out the makemkv docker.  I'm stumped, new at all this, where do I go from here?

If I take the "/config" file (container volume) and in host type "/mnt/user/appdata/mkvmaker", will this add a "makemkv folder" to my appdata folder automatically, because I don't see how to do it other than using explorer in windows?

I'll be if I understand the "/unRaid" file in (container volume), should my host be "/mnt/user/Movies/" and another added for "/mnt/user/TV...

I don't understand "Remember to change to the /unRaid folder in the settings of MakeMKV as the default location of saving MKVs", as I usually save them directly to my TV / Movie share.

Thanks for any help ~ Dave

I don't use makemkv, but I do use plex. Normally, you would configure any dockers to use subfolders of the appdata folder for its config data.

Not clear what you mean about plex creating another appdata folder though. Did you go to the User Shares page and create the appdata share like I said? Maybe you should post a screenshot of your plex docker volume mappings before you try anything else.

I'm not having any problems at all with plex, up and running like a champ.  Yes, I did as you said and created a share Appdata that was cache only, however, when I ran the plex docker, it created another appdata folder and ignored the one I made, so I just deleted mine, all's well!

It's not plex, I'm having the problem with, it's the makemkv docker, I kinda figured it would be about the same, but the "/unRaid" part throws me for a loop, I think the /config, I'm confused.

Thanks ~ Dave

Linux is case-sensitive so Appdata and appdata are not the same.

Yup, seems I read something about that, like I said, I'm such a boot at this I stink of cash sales!
