VM Linked clone???? BTRFS?

After watching Linus Tech Tips 7 gaming PCs in one, i heard him say something about using the BTRFS file system to create a type of linked clone.  Is this easily done?  i cant find any information on this.  I run 2 VMs but the VMs are starting to eat into my cache pool and i would like to create more, but with the base as one of the machines i already have.  I want to save space.  is this possible?  Any help would be awesome!
