January 17, 201610 yr Hello, I'm really lost right now. My son pressed the rest button on my unraid server and now I can't get it back up and running. He has done it before, and all I had to do was go back to the web UI and hit start to get all the services back up and running. This time, I can't connect to the web server. I don't see the unraid server even connected to the LAN. I've even tried connecting a monitor back to the server and restarting and can't get the monitor to even pick up the server. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get back up and running? I don't understand how restarting would just screw everything up completely. Thank you!
January 17, 201610 yr Community Expert Is nothing at all (even BIOS messages) showing up on a directly attached monitor? It is not clear from what you said whether the server is even attempting to boot. If it is then has the BIOS lost the setting to boot from the USB stick? Has the USB perhaps got some corruption that will mean it needs plugging into a Windows PC to fix? It seems likely that at this point you are going to need a directly attached keyboard/monitor (or use IPMI if you motherboard supports it) to resolve this issue.
January 17, 201610 yr Author I directly attached a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and the monitor just stays in the sleep mode. I even tried a different monitor and it still won't pickup anything from the unraid server. That's why I'm completely lost on what to do to restore the unraid server. The server boots up, fans are running inside, lights on, etc. There's just nothing displaying on the monitor and it's not connected to the network. The usb thumb drive is in the rear and has never been touched. How do I tell if that is corrupted or not?

If you get nothing at all from a directly attached monitor then it is likely that you have a hardware issue. At the very least I would expect some sort of BIOS message to appear on the monitor when you switch the server on. At this point it could be anything (e.g. motherboard, power supply, RAM) so difficult to guess what could be wrong.
January 17, 201610 yr This may sound silly but do you have a speaker on your motherboard? If you have an onboard speaker and you hear nothing it's obviously not trying to post. If that's the case, the first thing I would check based on your son hitting the button is the power supply. Power supplies are notorious for being crapped out but will stay running till that one power down/reboot when they don't come back up.
January 17, 201610 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions and help! I tried rebooting with and without usb several times yesterday and couldn't get anything to work. I left it on overnight and when I woke up the monitor was telling me to insert a boot device. Put in the USB and restarted and it's back up and running. Doesn't make any sense to me... but I'll obviously take it
