February 4, 200719 yr HI I networked mapped my Unraid data disks to "My Computer". This works great for Cinemar DVD lobby and Zoom Player, as I only have to create shortcuts of each movie for DVDLobby. These shortcuts spin up only the drive containing the movie and will simultaneously open Zoom Player and begin playing the movie. I can view and sort all my movie titles and cover art without spinning up any Unraid discs until I select play. What I have noticed is that "My Computer" details shows the Unraid discs as NTFS? Is this just a default recognition by Windows? Also, I experimented moving files around quite a bit, before importing all my data. This has left me with a disc which has a folder that I cannot delete, due to "Cannot remove video_TS:the directory is not empty" error. I cannot find this directory. The disc also won’t allow me to move any more Video_TS files on to it. I'm happy to reformat this drive, but I don't see where I can elect this. Any Thoughts?
February 6, 200719 yr Where are you seeing Windows reporting the share as "NTFS"? Are you using the 'User Share' feature?
February 9, 200719 yr Author I see it in the "My Network Places " left side "Details" Pane when I highlight the Unraid disk. Everything seems to work well, and the Unraid system seems very easy to configure to Cinemar and TheatreTek through Windows(XP). My thought is Windows may not have ReiserFS in its library and falls back to NTSF as a default. I'm very happy with the system and will be upgrading to "Plus". One suggestion, it would be great if some of the solutions in the posts were swept into trouble shooting guide. Knowing some of the tricks like the HPformat tool, would be very useful, when located in a simple guide. Please keep everyone posted on the revision for P5LD2-VM 2.0/IDE DISK issue. Anyways, great system! Thanks
February 12, 200719 yr Author So does everyone see their XP Pc reference the unRaid disks as NTSF in the details of the disk in My Network Places? Thanks
February 13, 200719 yr So does everyone see their XP Pc reference the unRaid disks as NTSF in the details of the disk in My Network Places? I can't speak for everyone, but if I open "My Network Places" and look under properties, this is what I see (first image)... If, on the other hand, I open up Windows Explorer and look at the drive properties, I see that I think you're looking for (second image)...
February 13, 200719 yr There is a Samba option to set the file system type reported to the client (i.e., Windows). It's called 'fstype' and can be set to either 'NTFS', 'FAT', or 'Samba', default 'NTFS'. See here. There's currently no way to change this, but everything I've read says 'NTFS' is the best option (don't know why really).
