Upgrade from V5 rc8a to V6.1.8

Featured Replies

Hi I need to upgrade from V5 to the latest V6 version, I'm only using this unraid setup as a file server i don't run plex or any other server software apps.

Am I correct in thinking that if i stop my Array back up my usb, download V6 and format the USB and copy over the config file and plus.key, start my array all will be up and running?

I won't need to format any of my current drives in my Array?

Thanks John

In simplistic terms that is correct!

If you want more details on all the ins and outs of the upgrade process then read the wiki article on the upgrade process.

It looks like it is!

If you want to check you can always put the v6 onto a spare USB stick and see if you can boot it.

ok thanks

Ok it boots up fine and a different usb stick so all is ok.

but one thing i keep noticing is when i stop my array then power down it tells me it was an unclean powerdown, then obviously the next time i power on the parity drive wants to runs it's checks.

If upgrade my USB stick to V6 and then power on will i have any issues with my parity drive when it starts to run its checks?
