Hard Drive Failure?

Featured Replies

I was moving some files from unraid HD to another unraid HD and received a message along the lines of "file already exists in this folder", which it did not. I attempted to move it again and received the same error.

I then went to the unRaid web console and noticed the red bullet next to one of my hard drives. I restarted the unRaid server and I am still getting the red bullet. I can still access the unRaid hard drive but I would like to know how to get this hard drive back in good status. Any help would be appreciated.  I have attached an image of what I am seeing.

reiserfsck --check results

no corruptions found

There are on the filesystem:

Leaves 34212

Internal Nodes 208

Directories 1

Other Files 180

Data block pointers 34611883 (48147 of them are zero)

Safe links 0

I have removed all of the data from this drive. Hopefully that will make whatever needs to be done easier.

The red 'led' indicates the drive is 'disabled'.  Must have had a write-error sometime in the past and got disabled.  To re-enable the same disk, do this:

1. Stop array and power down.

2. Remove disk5 (or just disconnect it).

3. Power up & Start array.

4. Stop array and power down (again).

5. Reconnect disk5.

6. Power up - system should indicate new disk5 is installed.  Start array & system will start reconstruct onto that drive.

From this point on, keep an eye on that disk, it might be about to fail.

It did exactly what you said it would. I am in the process of "rebuilding" now.
