Intel nic card help

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am one of those guys that went crazy over the E5-2670 sale on eBay. I currently have 2 of them and am just waiting on more funds to purchase the motherboard and ram. Hopefully will get everything purchased in the next few weeks.

My current rig is:

My MB-  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://m.newegg.com/Product/index%3Fitemnumber%3DN82E16813186214&ved=0ahUKEwji-9vK4ozLAhVW8WMKHTFFAfwQFggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNFBA8tZW8O_WjJnUKHHEE0xVqaFew&sig2=usq03fOpRohCXMBdUWj5qA.

CPU -  i3-2120

4 gigs of ram

Well once I get all my parts for the new rig. I would like to make my current rig a pfsense box.

I'm just looking for suggestions on a few good Intel nics I could add to the MB above. I'm looking for a good quad or dual nic. I would prefer a quad at a reasonable price but can deal with a dual if I have to.

Thanks for your suggestions in advanced.

Its sold out now, but I picked up an older EXPI9404PTL Quad Intel low profile card used for $29.  Its Intel made for IBM type thing based on the 82571GB chipset and is supported by pfSense.  The same seller has a few of the same cards new for just under $49.  Watch for low profile vs. standard bracket in the descriptions to be sure you get the version you need.  Whatever you find just check the FreeBSD 10.1 hardware compatibility list to be sure it is supported in pfSense.
