February 27, 201610 yr My server has been up and running problem free for over 6 months. I am not super knowledgeable and was able to build this beast solely because of the members on this forum. I didn't have any issues prior to the monthly parity check running. I have 10 disks and a share called "Media". Well usually, when I open my server in network explorer and click the "Media" share, all of my folders from discs 1-10 are shown here and I can transfer bluray rips or downloads from my PC to the server to whatever folder I want. Inside the media folder are subfolders for "Music", "Home Movies" and "Movies". Inside the "Movies" folder are subfolders for "Numeric", "A", "B" etc. Well today when I click the "Media" share, it is empty. I haven't lost anything and can access each individual disc and all my data is available on each individual disc with the folders and subfolders. What happened? I am hesitant to do much to avoid losing any data. Right now I am at 38.5 tb worth so you can probably understand my concern. So the share shows up but I have to go to each disk share to access the data on it. Plex still works like normal. Any ideas? I rebooted but beyond that I am lost. I am running Unraid 6.0.1. Thanks in advance.
February 27, 201610 yr Author Update... I have no idea how but I rebooted once more and now things are back to normal. 100% functional. Whew. Sorry to disturb Happy weekend folks!
February 27, 201610 yr I don't know what happened, but I'm glad a reboot fixed it. The key when you have problems is to not panic, there are a lot of people who come to this forum who are really good at preventing data loss when it can be avoided. If you don't know what to do ever, totally ask.
February 27, 201610 yr Author You don't have to worry about that. I can't guarantee that panic won't ensue initially but I can guarantee that I won't do anything above a reboot without asking here!!!
February 27, 201610 yr The User Share system is built brand new every time you start the array, nothing is carried over but your config. So any time you see problems with shares, you should be able to stop the array, restart it, and have a fresh set of shares.
February 27, 201610 yr Author Good to know. While I was thrilled to have everything back to normal I still didn't like not knowing what was going on. At least this explains why the share showed back up as normal. Thanks
