The status bar is showing a message about syslog before I get the blank panel. I also get an IE error when trying to bring up Disk Management. There is a parity sync in progress, in the event that matters. Link to comment

There is a parity sync in progress, in the event that matters. It sounds as if you have no nameserver on your LAN. Are you using a MAC? or a PC? Describe your network.
