December 14, 200916 yr I used Midnight Commander to move some files off a bad disk, as the Parity disk was showing red. I have three shares set up, one for each disk (kinda pointless I know - for now), but when I look at the file structure for disk one it shows Volume 1,2 and 3. Disk 2 has no directories and no files. Since Disk 2 (Volume 2) is set up to exclude Disk 1 and Disk 3, why are all my files on Disk 1? Allocation method is High Water BTW and Split Level is 0.

Split level 9 has meant different things in different versions of unRAID. At one point in time, it was equivalent to a split level of 9999 (indicating it was ok to split a directory at any level) at one time it meant to never split a directory, and in the most current versions it changed its meaning once more. Other than that, I can't advise you as I never use the user-shares to dictate where I store my files. I use them to see a consolidate view for my media players. To give you ANY answer, we'd need to know the version of unRAID you are running and exactly how the disks are configured. Also, you might have stored some on older versions where "0" had a different meaning. (You'll need to look at the release notes to learn when things changed and what "0" currently means. I don't think the "Official user-manual" in the wiki is up to date either. The release notes are your best bet.) Here is the latest split level "0" release note: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3760.0 Joe L.

Here is the latest split level "0" release note: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3760.0 Joe L. Thanks, currently 4.4.2, moving to 4.5 RSN. Shares were set up under 4.3 I think. Currently: Volume 1 is Disk 1 (Exclude 2,3) Volume 2 is Disk 2 (Exclude 1,3) Volume 3 is Disk 3 (Exclude 1,2) So I was surprised to find Volume 1,2,3 on Disk 1. Volume 2 share shows as empty from Windows since I haven't copied the files back yet. I'm tempted to copy the files from Volume 2 back to Disk 2 in Midnight Commander to see what happens. There are only a few files involved and I have a backup elsewhere.
