June 2, 201610 yr i have what seemingly looks to be a healthy cache pool with two drives. what i'm trying to figure out is why one of the drives has a large number of read/writes and the second drive has close to zero. see here: http://i.imgur.com/jSUpPc9.jpg if everything looks correct, please just tell me i'm being paranoid. if something looks off, i'd be glad to hear some advice.
June 2, 201610 yr Community Expert That's not normal, something went wrong during the pool creation, cache2 is not being used.
June 2, 201610 yr Author one of the drives did get unplugged during the build after unraid was initially setup, so i have to assume that's what's caused it. here's the pool info displayed when clicking the first cache ssd: http://i.imgur.com/I2PYQz5.jpg
June 3, 201610 yr Community Expert That confirms it, only cache1 (sdf) is being used, you have to redo the pool.
June 3, 201610 yr Author you have to redo the pool. you know where i can find documentation on that? i've searched but haven't found any.
June 3, 201610 yr Community Expert It should be possible to redo the pool without data loss but backup cache just in case, then: -stop array, unassign cache2 and start array again, see if cache mounts (usually it's necessary to physically disconnect a cache pool member for the remaining to mount, but since cache2 is not part of the pool try it, if it's unmountable power down, disconnect cache2, power on and see if it mounts) if cache1 alone mounts (with or without cache2 connected) proceed: -change cache slots to 1, change cache fs to xfs or reiserfs, assign cache2 as single cache and format to clear btrfs filesystem -change cache slots back to 2 -assign cache1 only -start array, check it's still mounting -stop array, add cache2 to pool, start array -balance should start automatically, you can check progress on the cache webpage or wait for reads/writes to stop.
