January 6, 201016 yr Just got a new ss4200 "NAS" and am thinking of merging it with my current unRaid installation using port multipliers/eSata to get all my disks in there (4 internal on teh ss4200 and 6-8 external in PMPs). I just wanted to verify that unRaid is supporting this now. The esata chipset on the ss4200 is SiI 3132. Thanks! Sean

Sean I have no problems using Sil3132 with SIl Portmultiplierchips inside the unraid box, all works fine incl. S3/WOL.
January 6, 201016 yr Yes, both works fine. But I get this only with SIL chip combination, this also includes FIS-based switching. Had problems in the past with other combinations.
January 7, 201016 yr Author Just to cycle back on this. I got the ss4200 up and running (had to make/buy the right cable & adapter to get into the bios). I'm using a Sans Digital TR8M (-B, black) as a port multiplier and it looks like it's working well. Formatting drives right now, then I'll pull a parity check. As a test, I've got three drives in the port multiplier and three in the SS4200 (eventually I'll have 4 in the SS4200 and 6+ in the port multiplier).
January 7, 201016 yr Author format done. parity sync in progress... 42000kb/s (6, 1.5TB drives, says it's going to take 10 hours... eek!)
