Sorry if someone already asked this question in past, but I am new to unraid and not sure what this messages means. Looks like disc is failing but someone explain. I have received following message:

 

Event: unRAID Parity disk SMART health [198]

Subject: Warning [TOWER] - offline uncorrectable is 2

Description: Hitachi_HDS721010CLA332_JP2921HQ135N7A (sdd)

Importance: warning

 

Event: unRAID Parity disk SMART health [197]

Subject: Warning [TOWER] - current pending sector is 6

Description: Hitachi_HDS721010CLA332_JP2921HQ135N7A (sdd)

Importance: warning

Your drive have developed bad sectors. I've had the "offline uncorrectable" and "reallocated sector" error a few times and its never good.

One last question, is there any settings I need to apply which would extend life of hard drives?

The only 'setting' that would help is to 'set' it in its box on a safe shelf.  ;)
