puncho
Hey all, so looking to build my first NAS/unraid Low energy would be a plus...I plan on putting my plex media server on my i7 rig or nvidia shield. I want to use the Unraid for: 1) nzbget, sonarr, couchpotato, etc. 2) Cloud 3) VPN 4) Surveillance recording/cameras 5) I'll be doing video editing on my main rig, hope it won't be a bottleneck/lag Would the following specs be sufficient? I already have a 120gb SSD for the cache (is that enough?). I also will order a Sandisk Cruzer for the OS. Do I need or want 2 NICs? How long do you think it'd take a newbie to set up all this given no experience? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sC3XYr CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor MB: MSI B150M BAZOOKA PLUS Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Memory: GeIL EVO POTENZA 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: Western Digital Red 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive x 2 Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mini Tower Case PSU: Corsair CSM 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Thanks, happy thanksgiving!! Datastore
You can save by buying 2133mhz ddr4 instead of 2400, that board doesn't support it with XMP profiles, you may over clock it. I wouldn't as gains a negligible imo. And considering UnRaid is a file server first and foremost keeping ram at stock seems like a sound idea. I prefer Intel nic over realtek but single nic is fine. Looks like a fun build. I would consider a different m-atx case which can take more 3.5" drives for future expansion. Don't forget about parity :-) Once the array is up and running you can read through the wealth of info here helping you get dockers up and running. Quote Link to comment
puncho
Thanks! I think that was he cheapest ram, that's why I included it but I'll double check This case (Rosewill STEALTH ATX Mid Tower Case) has 8 internal 3.5" bays, which I think would work. Ah yah, will use one of the 2 hard drives for parity. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
