Spyderturbo007
I'm using all 8 SATA Ports on my motherboard (7 data drives + 1 cache drive) and I'm out of space. I have two 6TB WD Red drives sitting here and wanted to preclear one of them and swap out my parity drive so I could use the other one as a data drive. How do I handle a pre-clear without having an open SATA port? I've read that I can just yank the parity drive and replace it with the new drive and it will rebuild parity but that doesn't help me with the pre-clear. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
garycase
Use another system -- just create a trial UnRAID key (free) and boot it on any other system you have access to -- just be sure you ONLY pre-clear the drive you want to -- NOT one of the drives for that system. [The safest thing to do is just disconnect the drives you don't want UnRAID to "touch" before you do this.] Quote Link to comment
