bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!! - XFS

Featured Replies

Ok, so i replaced disk3 data drive (2tb) with a 4tb drive, all added and parity complete

i then preclear the said 2tb drive and try adding it to my array as disk5 (next available drive) and set FS from auto to XFS (the other drives are reiserfs)

i then start the array and it says unmountable for the 2TB XFS drive

i have common problems plugin installed and it told me to stop the array and start in maintenance mode and do a Check Filesystem Status

so i run this on disk5 and it says the below:

Phase 1 - find and verify superblock...
bad primary superblock - bad magic number !!!

attempting to find secondary superblock...

i can see disk5 on the main page has 508,034 reads currently and rising

should i just leave it to finish? or is there anything else i need to do?

log is below:

If you have just run pre-clear on the disk it is not surprising it is unmountable as at this point no file system has been created.  UnRAID should be offering to format the drive and that is what you need to do to get it mountable.

Note that after the format there will be no data on the drive (which is what you expect for a drive just added to the array), but double-check it is the drive you expect before going ahead with the format.    You do not want to accidentally format one of the drives with data on them as that would cause data loss.
