January 25, 20179 yr Hello All, I'm not sure whats happening with why my GUI is slow. I've tried to make sense of the syslog but cant seem to figure out the error. Last Monthly auto parity check was very very very slow. it was going to take 29 day 2 days into it I canceled as by the time it would finish it would be the next check right around the corner. I've used unbalance in the past and do know if it was the problem that caused the slow parity checks last years after using it to move files but have had good parity check running so the months after that slow one at that time. Usually 89MBps to 100+. I started wondering if the USB thumb drive might be the cause. But again I'm guessing which is why i'm seeking help in this forum. I have included my basic system log in this post. Any help to make sense of it would be a big help and I would very much appreciate it. Thank you for your time, Chris r2d2-syslog-20170125-1418.zip
January 25, 20179 yr Here's your problem: Jan 25 14:19:01 R2D2 avahi-daemon[7006]: Failed to find user 'avahi'. See here.
January 26, 20179 yr Author Thank you John That was the fix for me. I read through it and grabbed the Vim Editor and followed directions of the Faq. I feel like a heel for not finding this answered elsewhere and on my own. Tried google searching a few different ways to no help there. Came here and should have read more but remembering the Faq past needs for help kicked in and said prepare system log and post it for help. It never dawned on me the Faq you pointed me to would have that detailed of the answer I needed. I have a feeling my second server C3PO will need this sometime once I update it's software. I thank you very much John. You have my respect to the hero status you have here in the forum and where kind in helping me out with your answer. I I had also pick up the Fix Common Problem User Utility that I was trying earlier today. Looks like there are a couple more little problems I need to tend to. Have Fun, Chris P.s. Also the System seems sooooooooo much snappier in the GUI now. Seems like I had a problem for some time. Amazing
January 26, 20179 yr Don't feel bad for not being able to find it for yourself. Sometimes it's difficult to see the wood for the trees. Glad your system is responsive again.
