Tower IP

Featured Replies

Question can i edit the config/Network file from the flash drive to have the same IP on every boot of the tower?

I have noticed that the tower keeps picking different IP's on start ups - here is my stock Network file untouched

Can i just change the ip address to 192.168.1.127 - as long as nothing else is on that port and do i have to edit the - netmask and gateway?

# Generated network settings

USE_DHCP=yes

IPADDR=

NETMASK=

GATEWAY=

Thanks ;)

You can set "USE_DHCP=no", and then enter your static IPADDR and NETMASK.

GATEWAY is optional. You could set it to the IP of your router if you want unRAID to be able to access the internet,

like for example for accessing timeservers to keep its time accurate.

Hi, would suggest either statically assign an IP address in the settings option on the unraid server site or configure your DHCP server to automatically assign your servers NIC and IP address based on your NICs MAC address. Hope this helps.

It does other than the netmask which I assume would be - 255.255.255.0 ?

Most home based ip address subnet mask's normally use a 24bit scheme. yes it would be a 255.255.255.0. To check, see wha another client at your network where your server is connected to and see what subnet mask it is using. Thanks.
