Bad directory permissions after 6.3+ update with OS X 10.10

Featured Replies

After updating our server to 6.3 we are having permission issues with directories that OS X 10.10 is creating on the unraid shares. The directories will take on the permissions of

drwx------ 1 1002 users instead of getting the permissions of drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users. This is only happening with OS X systems. The windows system accessing and creating directories do not have this issue.

When this happens everyone is locked out of the directory including the person who created it. The only fix I have right now is to SSH into the servers terminal and run newperms . on the folder with the bad permissions. I am debating going back to 6.24, but know it had security issues that I do not want to deal with.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this issue? I read somewhere that 6.3 added vfs_fruit could that be causing the issue and if so is there a easy way to disable vfs_fruit?

Since you mention vfs_fruit I assume they are using the SMB protocol to connect, is this the case for all of them or are some using AFP?

Is the share a public one, a private one or a secure one?

If it's private or secure, how have you configured User Access in Share Settings -> SMB Security Settings?

Have you added the appropriate user names and passwords to the server?

What credentials is each user providing to connect to the share, since the Finder offers the option of guest access where appropriate?

If you turn on the Help in the GUI the various options are explained.

All connect using SMB. AFP is turned off.

All shares are Private shares.

All users have read/write access.

All users have there own logins created in unraid.

When connecting they provide the credentials that have been setup in unraid.

As a temporary fix I have forced the OS X systems to connect using SMB1 which seems to have corrected the directory issues, but causes the OS X to have slower access to the server.
