February 19, 20179 yr My Unraid server had been running great for months then the network connectivity just stops. I mostly use a connected monitor to use my Windows 10 VM as a desktop (which is still running but without network connectivity), and I have an Ubuntu VM running some services. The network cable and router should be working since I have connected other devices to this cable, and they all get an IP address via DHCP and full connectivity. At this point I am not sure how to safely power the array down without dashboard access and with VM's running. Any Ideas of shutting down and fixing would be greatly appreciated.
February 19, 20179 yr Community Expert Do you have a motherboard video out you can use to get to the unRAID command line, or are you using that for your VM?
February 19, 20179 yr Author Unfortunately not. I only have the graphics card that my Windows VM is using.
February 19, 20179 yr A crazy idea, haven't done it, and haven't heard of others more knowledgeable mention it - but, isn't there an internal bridge now in unRAID? In your Windows VM, try browsing to 192.168.122.1 ...
February 19, 20179 yr Author I'm hoping there is some sort of bridge. It didn't seem to work though. Chrome shows ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE. Also, if I try to ping it I get "PING: transmit failed. General failure."
February 19, 20179 yr Seems like a system-wide network failure, but I can't even guess what happened. Has this happened more than once recently? If it's happening often enough (within a day or 2, not more than a week), try starting the Troubleshooting Mode of the Fix Common Problems plugin. It will save diagnostics to the flash drive. At the moment, you can try the power button, should start a soft powerdown. It normally (if you are up to date) tries to wait 60 seconds for VM stoppage, before shutting down.
February 19, 20179 yr Author This was the first time the network failed. I got it to power down, and everything started back up in good shape. I will try starting the Troubleshooting Mode if it happens again soon. Thanks for the help!
