disk read fail

Featured Replies

I received an alert that Disk 2 had read errors..

the drive has a red x and is saying device is disabled and contents emulated. In the dashboard it is showing as faulty. I have checked the short smart test which seems ok

The drive has not had much use as i recall tho ive had it in a cupboard a few years. Is this a complete drive failure?? Any help would be appreciated.

data rebuild in progress lets hope this works :)

You should always go to Tools - Diagnostics before rebooting and post the complete zip.

SMART for that disk looks OK. Normally I would suggest checking connections before starting the rebuild in this situation.

Assuming all the other drives are OK then you would rebuild to the same disk as you are doing. Let it finish and we'll see how it goes.

i did re-seat the sata connection for the disk before, the rebuild has completed and the drive has returned to normal. I will remember to check the diagnostics next time :)

thanks for the help
