I'm upgrading my UnRaid box to a newer system and I've got some questions about the transfer speeds I'm getting.

When I'm sending data to the UnRaid array (from my desktop), I'm saturating my 1Gbps connection with about 113MB/s transfer speeds which is nice!

However when I'm retrieving data from the unRaid array (to my desktop), I'm seeing some very inconsistent speeds. The transfer starts at around 100MB/s and then quickly degrades to 40-50MB/s with dips down to 20MB/s. (see atached image)

The UnRaid server is using a couple of HGST 4TB drives with a 256GB SSD cache. The UnRaid installation has default values for all the settings; clean install.

On my desktop, I'm transferring to a Samsung 850 EVO 256GB SSD. (I doubt this is a bottleneck)

 

- How do I go about diagnosing where the problem is?
